Daily Design #28 – This is pretty much how all algebra looked to me in high school! No wonder I could only do physics!
Daily Design #28 – This is pretty much how all algebra looked to me in high school! No wonder I could only do physics!
Daily Design #27 – I didn’t start out my day thinking, “I’m going to draw a toadstool today,” but then again, life is about the winding path, isn’t it?
Daily Design #26 – These are not coming as often as they should right now…I’m having difficulties. I’m kinda tired of the winter weather here and really long for spring.
Daily Design #25 – A photo manipulation to break up the typography. The photo isn’t mine, but my car looks exactly the same, same silver, sun roof, etc. I split my manip and the original in half so you can get an idea of before vs. after. I really like doing manipulations. This was done [...]
Daily Design #24 – A long overdue daily design! I think everyone has flubbed up the “daily” part of this, but I’m trying to get back on track because I did get a great sense of accomplishment out of it. So here is one for a place which doesn’t exist, but I wish it did [...]
Daily Design #23 – My wife is to blame for this one as she has an aquarium as a hobby. There is one guppy fish in that tank that thinks he is the stud and it’s extremely funny to watch him run after all the other fish.
Daily design #22 – So the procrastination virus hit my brain recently and I’m only now catching up on the designs. I’ve been so gung-ho over this design challenge, but had a lapse. I’m back now, though!
Daily Design #21 – A staple of the American road trip culture is the roadside restaurant. These don’t always serve great food, but sometimes you find the best damn meatloaf along Interstate 70 as some “hole-in-the-wall” eatery that the locals try to keep all to themselves!
Daily Design #20 – How about a bit of in-your-face clothing typography?!? Thought the name “Defcon:Delta” was cool, but wasn’t sure what to do with it…now you know
Daily Design # 19 – This is one I did just for my wife. She was the first person I ever heard use this term, which I’m sure you can decipher. I thought it sounded like a word from the 70’s so I wanted the text to reflect that.
Daily Design #18 – A quote by Ghandi, as profound as ever, regarding our place in the world and hinting at the arrogance of those who see themselves as separate from the overall symbiotic system. Perhaps they need their eyes checked!
Daily Design #17 – There used to be men with such conviction, character and sense of selfless passion in my country. Where are they when we need them most? The quote is by Patrick Henry, from a speech he delivered on March 23, 1775 to help convince the Virginia House of Burgess to provide troops [...]
Daily Design #16 – Moving over to typography for my next adventure in my daily design challenge. This one is pretty basic as I get my bearings on it all. I’ve got some great ideas for this run and am looking forward to experimenting to make them happen.
Daily Design #15 – Tammila has one very cool job…she documents the history of the Briarhurst Manor in Manitou Springs, Colorado. If you watch the Syfy channel, you may have seen her on an episode of Ghost Hunters, when they came out to investigate the place.
Daily Design #14 – This illustration is of my aunt Lee. She’s great fun to hang out with and is always smiling. Lots of curly hair in this one, which gave me a bit of trouble, but i think it came out alright in the end.
Daily Design #13 – Jes n Chloe. This illustration is one of my Jes and her daughter Chloe. Apparently Chloe was told to give a big smile of the picture or didn’t like the flash from the camera. Either way it’s one cute picture!
Daily Design #12 – This one is of Holly, a friend of my wife who lives in Australia. She’s such a sweet and kind person and I hope that comes across in this work.
Daily Design #11 – This one is of my step-son doing what he loves to do more than anything else in the world, which is playing the guitar.
Daily Design #10 – A friend, and one of the funniest people I know, is today’s “victim” of my sweeping and epic Facebook portrait illustration design campaign. This one was a little tougher because the image was shot head-on instead of at an angle. i think it came out fairly nice though.
Daily Design #9 – My step-daughter, Danielle, with a bright red head band.
Daily Design #8 – Paul and Axe. Original photograph by Nancy Wells-Georgia, a very talented photographer. This design deviates from the others because it should. The original image has a lot of contrast, is in black and white and is of Paul, which alone is reason enough to change things up, lol!
Daily Design #7 – Another Facebook portrait from my list of friends. This is of Bev, a “dame of all trades” including successful author. This is done in one of my illustrative styles. You can find out what her latest adventures are by following her on Twitter.
Daily Design #6 – I finally figured out what my first theme for this challenge is going to be…Facebook portraits done in one of my illustrative styles. Here is the first one, it’s of my wife. I’m going to be doing mostly my friends, but who knows, I may branch out as well. This style [...]
Daily Design #5 – The first of a series of Adobe Photoshop Layer Styles. Some will be sublime, some will be outrageous (I hope), but all should be useful for something. Rather than having a bunch of ASL files, I’m going to create one big one at the end that you’ll get to download for [...]
Daily Design #4 – This is my first daily design that I’ve done when I have to go to work. I know it’s loud…really loud, but there we go. It feels like I had to rush it because I still have that whole “no more than an hour on each design” thing that I’m trying [...]
Daily Design #3 – Boardroom WordPress theme. I’m making it freely available to anyone who wants to use it…yes, it is a fully functional theme and should work without issue on 2.7+ If you do use it, I’d appreciate you leaving the tiny credit link at the bottom and even a note telling me where/how [...]
Daily Design #2 – I kinda struggled to even come up with a design today. I think I’m going to have to try and pick a theme or something for each week or month in order to make it easier to focus my creativity.
Daily Design #1 – The first entry for my Daily Designs challenge. Read the news post to learn more about what that is. Not too much explanation here, I just thought it would be something fun to do. I’m not thrilled with the “cartooney” look of the eagle, but such is life. I’m just warming [...]
