Google has finally activated their iGoogle “Artist Themes” section where you can now pick up themes by world-class artists and innovators (their words, not mine) as Rolf Harris,  Cold Play, Dolce & Gabbana , Jackie Chan and the Wiggles. I’m sure it’ll sound like sour grapes, but it is tough enough getting your theme noticed when it takes three weeks for the list to get updated and yours is among some very good ones and a lot crappy ones, but now it is that much tougher. I guess I’ve really got to step up my game a bit.  For some reason, Cascadian didn’t make it onto this round of additions (but the Wiggles did!), so I’m going to keep it as an inThemes exclusive theme.

Google is taking forwever to get my new theme listed, but I was let in on a site that allows you to use themes that aren’t yet listed. With the addition of a tiny gadget on your iGoogle pages, you can get my new theme, Cascadian, plus others that aren’t yet available for iGoogle.

I posted some details for the Cascadian iGoogle theme today, you can find them in the portfolio or by going straight to the page. I’ve finished two of the banners, and plan to have about another six.

I’ve been converting my old site over to this new way of doing things. I found a great plugin for Wordpress that allows me to create templates, which is making the work a little quicker, but there is a bunch of stuff to move over. As I get sections of my portfolio done, I’m linking them up on the actual portfolio page.

By this evening (my time), I should have a sneak peak at my new iGoogle theme that I’m simply calling “Cascadian” for no real reason :) I also plan on releasing a simple tutorial on how I went about making my Steampunk images. Everyone is loving my first iGoogle theme, a Steampunk-based one, and it has over 1500 users so far! I’ve had a request to create another one based upon the header graphics from this site, which I’m currently working on…watch this space for more info and possibly a sneak peak of it. Second link.
