RocketTheme has been putting out some amazing themes for Joomla and PHPBB3 for a while, but just go into the WordPress theme arena at the tail end of 2009.

In August of 2010 they released their first WP theme which utilized the Gantry framework, which their Joomla themes had been using for a while and was already in it's 2nd version. The two frameworks share the name and basic purpose, but are two separate programs, with independent dev timelines (as far as I'm publicly aware) and because of this, the plug-ins that are built for the WP version lags behind. One perfect example is RokTweetie, which is the twitter feed reader plug-in RocketTheme developed for Gantry-based Joomla templates. Nothing like it exists for their Gantry-based WordPress themes...until now :)

I've worked up this widget which goes into the "widgets" folder for any Gantry-based WordPress theme . It adds a "BecTweets" widget to the pane in your WP widget admin page. I use it in the footer of this site. It uses the style sheet of the theme/preset and has a couple of configuration options.

Make it so

BecTweets
Download the ZIP file, and upload the bectweets.php file into your gantrytheme/widgets folder. Log in to WP admin and go to the appearance/widgets page or refresh your browser if you're already there. Look for the BecTweets widget. When you drag the widget to stack, it'll open up and ask for some general info. See the screen shot for a glimpse at the empty widget. One note, if you indicate that you want to have a link to your twitter page, you MUST enter some text in the next field which becomes the link text (e.g. "Visit My Twitter Page"). Other than than, it's pretty straight forward. I hope folks who use Gantry-based themes find it useful. Let me know how it works out in the comments.
